About this course

This course is designed to provide information about the risks of noise at work and the control measures available to help protect your hearing.

COURSE DETAILS

Certification

Once the course is completed, users will be required to take a final test (see Test).  On successful completion of the test, users can download and print a certificate.

The course is RoSPA approved

Duration

The course lasts approximately 45 minutes, although this can depend on the level of existing knowledge.

Test

Users are required to take a final test consisting of 10 default questions. The default pass mark is 70%

The course administrator within your organisation can:

  • Change the pass mark
  • Implement the random test question feature which selects 10 questions from a bank of 20.
  • Can specify that more than 10 questions must be answered (up to the full bank of 20 questions)

Target Audience:

Any employees or contractors could usefully use this course as part of an induction process, or as refresher training. It is also useful for someone who needs to interpret a noise survey from a specialist in order to carry out a risk assessment of a workplace.  If hearing protection is needed, selection of hearing protection should take account of information from manufacturers as well as the content of this course. Where hearing protection is worn a face-to-face demonstration should be given by a competent person, and users should be given feedback to assess if they understand how to use it correctly.

Course Curriculum

Details how to recognise harmful exposure to noise. Discusses the importance of reducing noise exposure at source. Describes how to reduce the risk from noise by eliminating noise or reducing its impact at source. Discusses how to select and wear hearing protection where there is a residual noise risk.
